Update 3/12 and 3/13

Thursday, March 12: Pajama Day
The kids did a great job filling up the classroom coin jar.  They decided they wanted a pajama day so we had one.  I took these pictures while the kids were working on morning work, so you will see some sleepy kids :)

Friday, March 13: Sock Hop
Friday was sock hop day and crazy sock day.  Not too many kids came dressed up at school, but these young ladies looked picture ready so I just had to take a picture of them.

Lillian, Ava and Miri looked ADORABLE!

Blendspace.com:
While I was at the technology conference, I learned about this website that allows you to put pictures, videos, documents etc. together for kids to interact with.  Best of all, you share it with a QR Code.  The kids had a blast this week learning more about oviparous animals, bears, and koalas.  They were able to watch videos that I pre-selected for them.  How cool is that?  One of the kiddos told me that koalas do not drink water since they get it from the eucalyptus trees.  That is correct and she saw it in the video.

Reading Groups:
I meet with reading groups daily.  We read books, learn about sight words, practice fluency of letters, sounds, consonant vowel consonant (CVC) patterns etc.  The kids really enjoy coming to group and learning.

The kids LOVE to read!

Artist in Residence--March 5

We had our last artist in residence session for the year.  We made some jewelry.

We received our materials and then the kids got to work creating their projects.

This was a great project.  I think we might do this again in our classroom.
If you have any extra beads that you would like to get rid of, please send them in.

March 2--Dr. Seuss' Bday

We had another fun day on March 2.
We started the day making headbands...each kiddo was a Thing.
The kinder teachers were Things too!

We had a guest reader from the Corvallis Rotary Club Mr. Tucker.
He was very nice and read us The Cat in the Hat.

I made green pancakes for the kids!  They loved them!

Mrs. Polikoff ended our fun day with some more Dr. Seuss books.

February 25--100th Day of School

We celebrated the 100th day of school on February 25.  What a fun and busy day!

The first thing the kids did was to create headbands with the number 100.
Some kids were dressed up as though they were 100.  They were so cute!

The kids worked on putting 100 stickers on a gumball machine.

They worked on putting 100 dots on paper with our special markers.

They used dabbers to put 100 dabber marks on paper in rows of 10.

They rolled a die to get to 100 using markers to mark their spot.

We had so much fun on the 100th day of school!!!!
