Mother's Day Activities

We had a fun morning celebrating with moms and grandmas.  The kids gave manicures, massages, put lotion on, read with moms/grandmas, ate some yummy food, took pictures in the photo booth, and worked on a "mom and me" paper together.  Thank you for coming to this wonderful event!

Lima Bean Study

We split lima benas in half and learned about the parts of a seed: coat, food, and embryo.  The kids had so much fun breaking apart their seeds and then drawing a picture of the seed.  We also examined our lima beans that had sprouted in the classroom.

We made Puki bowls today.  We rolled clay into many small balls. Then we made a mini-penguin for the center.  We put everything into a bowl to create the shape of a bowl.  Mr. Moses will be putting them into a kiln and glazing them.  Once we get them back, the bowls will go home.  The kids will be able to eat out of them.

Our Study of Bees

Aunt Julie, Mr. Pilmer, and Grandpa Pilmer came to our classroom to teach us more about bees.  We had three station rotations. Aunt Julie taught us about pollen and nectar and let us pretend to be bees. She also brought in honey from her hive.  Mr. Pilmer showed us what a hive looks like and the tools beekeepers use to be safe.  Grandpa Pilmer made a bee craft with us and showed us some real bees (dead).  What a fun morning.
