Music Storytelling: Click Clack Moo--Cows That Type

Our music teacher, Mrs. Beyer is fabulous!  She worked with the kids on their storytelling performance for several months.  I had the easy part: have the kids make headbands for the performance.  My wonderful assistant, Amy Tacchini is an artist and she sketched out the animals/hats from the book for us.  The kids then used watercolors and painted them.  Mrs. Tacchini showed them how to blend colors.  Too cool!

Ready for the day time performance.

The kids did a fabulous job.  I am so proud of them.

Our Beans and Plants Are Growing!! May 12

Our beans have been growing in our windows.  Some have really taken off...while some have not.  We discussed possible reasons for that happening.  We drew pictures of the bean sprouts and used a friend's bean sprout if ours had not sprouted.

Some of our plants sprouted and some did not.  We talked about the reasons and what we could try if we did this again.

We also explored the inside of a seed and found the embryo, the food, and the seed coat.  So cool.
"It has a coat like we do in the winter!" some of the kids shared.

Making a Plant with Vegetables--May 14

We had so much fun learning the parts of a plant by using vegetables.  Each student created a plate that had the roots (carrots and radishes), the stem (celery), the leaves (lettuce), and the flower (broccoli).  We also added sunflower seeds.  We used ranch dressing and peanut butter as dipping sauces.  Most kids loved all the vegetables.  We even had the rest of the vegetables for snack on Friday with the addition of the asparagus that I cooked at home.  Thanks for all your donations of yummy food!!!!

The vegi table.  YUM!!!

Thank you so much for coming to our first Mother's Day Event.  We had 100% attendance.  The kids were so happy to have their moms and grandmas at school with them.   Thank you for all you do for us!  We appreciate it!
