Edible Plant Parts

Yum!  We studied the parts of a plant and then got to eat them. We had radishes and carrots for the roots; celery for the stem; lettuce and spinach for the leaves; broccoli for the flowers; pumpkin and sunflowers seeds for the seeds. Ranch and peanut butter made everything even yummier. The kids loved this activity.

Mr. Canning's Lesson on Seeds and Planting Peas

Mr. Canning gave us a lesson on how seeds travel. We then planted some peas in the school garden.

Planting in the Classroom

This is how our planting table started a few weeks ago.

We also have some corn, pumpkins, and nasturtiums in the windows.

Fused Glass Projects with Aunt Julie

The kiddos worked with Aunt Julie (Jacob's aunt) and created some cool glass designs. Julie took them with her to fuse the glass in her kiln. We are so lucky that she is able to come all the way from Portland to do this. Yeah for Aunt Julie and the wonderful experiences she is providing for our kiddos.

Naturalist in Residence March 31

We went to the wetlands to gather some specimens in our containers. We used a sheet to figure out what we had gathered. Then we shared with the whole class what we discovered. We used a magnifying glass to try to see the little critters. We had a lot of fun with our discoveries.
