Well, we had a busy week learning about colors, but we also did some other fun activities. Thank goodness I am taking pictures. I forgot that we did all these activities.
Writing Journals:
We started our writing journals. First we write our names, then we draw a picture, then we label it and then, if we can we write some words that represent our story. The kids did great!!
Computer Lab:
We go to computer lab every Tuesday at 2:00. The kids used ABC Mouse. I will be sending you codes to log in for free at home. It's a great program to build literacy, math, science, art skills.
Response to Literature:
We read the story The Dot and then we had to draw what happened at the beginning of the story vs the end. Again, the kids did great!
iPads:
The kids leaned how to use the app ABC Spelling which helps them with phonemic segmentation a very important kindergarten skill.
Snail Races:
We lined up all of our snails at the start line and watched to see who won. We did have one winner. yeah for snail races!
Nightcrawler Worms:
We got to play with worms and see how they slithered along the table. Uh gross, but so kinder.
New Literacy Stations:
Mrs. Ahola taught the kids how to use the playdoh with playdoh letter stamps and mats. So FUN!
Teacher Table:
Mrs. Polikoff has been at the teacher table teaching the kids how to write their name with a capital and lowercases. On Monday, the kids will start name writing on their own.
Writing Station Extension:
We have a new writing area in the classroom. The kids were writing down apple words and drawing pictures.
Sensory Bin with Split Peas:
Yep it was messy!
Sensory Bin with Rice:
Yep it was messy too!
Doll House:
I bought this this summer for the kids. I thought it would be awesome and the kids would enjoy it. I was right: it was a hit!
