Week 2--Sept 15

Apple Week

What a busy and fun week. We worked on a lot of apple activities which included tasting different types of apples, making apple sauce and painting paper plates to make them look like apples.

The kids loved the red apples the most.  The yellow ones came in second and the green ones came in last.

Kolton, Evan, Samuel and Cody had seconds and thirds of the applesauce that we made in the crockpot. Most kids loved it, some not so much.

Poetry Composition Notebooks

We also worked in our poetry composition notebooks and illustrated some fun nursery rhymes. Some kids even copied some of the titles down in their notebooks.  We learned about Jack and Jill, Humpty Dumpty, Hey Diddle Diddle, and Baa Baa Black Sheep.  Ask your kids if they remember some of the words. We will continue to sing/chant them next week.

Everyone is hard at work illustrating the nursery rhymes.

Gabby did a great job with her illustration.

Snails

We also got our snails for our science unit this week.  We have been observing them on our tables.  They are pretty slimy and leave a trail of slime all over. They also like to eat carrots and apples.

Giovanni, Garrett, Abigail and Inga really enjoyed watching the snails.

Yuck!  Slimy!

Hello there!

We also did a lot of reading to self, work work, math activities such as sorting and comparing.  No pics of those activities, but I will get you some soon.

  1. Hello Mrs. Hicks! We are Gabby's Nana and Grandpooh (that is what she calls him). We live in Gallatin, TN. We were so excited for Gabby to start school and sad at the same time that we would be missing out on all of the milestones. We are thrilled to discover your blog! Now we can keep up with her kindergarten experience and let her know we are watching. Thank you so much for your blog. We would love to contribute to your classroom when you may have a need. Gabby's mom has all of our information and I will ask her to pass it along to you.
